One of the most overlooked – but innovative – shoes released by Vans in recent years was the women’s Sophie. The shoe took design cues from a ballet flat and a wingtip, and it was (and remains) one of the smartest shoes the company makes for Women. For Spring 2011, VANS OTW is bringing an equal dose of fashion to the men’s Woessner Collection. It’s very much a men’s shoe, and it is very clearly Vans – with a vulcanized wrap and a waffle sole. Those features are worked into a very slimmed-down profile that is going to appeal to both Vans fans and young gents wearing Ray Bans and rolled-up chinos.
